Some people said it couldn't be done. Some said that it was an impossible feat and shouldn't be attempted. But LEGO said get lost, we are gonna do what we want! So they did, they built a fully functioning 1:1 scale Bugatti Chiron using LEGO technic!
What a feat! This machine is beautiful!
It took over 13,000 hrs to design and construct. The Chiron is built using 339 different technic elements. The lights are the first translucent technic pieces created which look phenomenal. The car itself weighs in at 1,500kg (3,300 lbs) and have has a working "motor". To explain the motor is a connection of over 2,300 LEGO electric motors put together. I guess you could say it's the first all electric Bugatti Chiron too!

Now it doesn't compare to the actually horsepower of a production Chiron which as 1,500hp and can top out at 261mph. It has just about 5.3hp and tops out at 12.4mph. LEGO in collaboration with Bugatti to use their test rider Andy Wallace to test their creation at the Ehra Lessien test track in Germany.
The Chiron uses 339 different Technic elements, many of which are used as load-bearing components. It even has working headlights—featuring the first use of some new types of transparent Technic bricks. The car weighs 3,306lbs (1,500kg), and even the powertrain is made from Lego: 2,304 of the little electric motors to be precise.

"When I first saw the LEGO Chiron, I was immediately impressed by the accuracy of the model and the minute attention to detail. In fact, from about 20 meters away it's not obvious that you are looking at a LEGO car," he said. "I can only imagine how much time and effort went into making this model. Driving the LEGO Chiron was a great experience, which I thoroughly enjoyed. All those years ago I could never have imagined that one day I would actually drive a LEGO car!"

Only three major parts of the build weren't made out of LEGO. There had to be a small frame and axels to support the weight of the mode, the Bugatti wheels, and the lighting and electronics. But there was no glue used in this build. Just a technic style build creating a frame and skin to have the look and angling that the real Chiron has. LEGO invented ‘fabric’, made up of small triangular elements connected together and attached to the frame via actuators. Move the actuator up or down, the triangle ‘fabric’ moves up or down, thus allowing the engineers to recreate the Chiron’s shape.

They even had to create a drill of sorts to allow them to put the parts together because it was labor intensive to put the axels into place so often. It’s just a power function motor coupled to a small gearbox so you can change forward and reverse.
Now you can't own this but hopefully it travels and you are able to see it one day. I hopefully will, what an amazing build. But if you do want to own the Chiron I recommend the LEGO set 42083 Bugatti Chiron and have it displayed at your office or home!
